- Refunded
- Unspent paid balance, with the 2% (India) or the 3% processing (outside India) on that money.
- Not refunded
- Usage already charged. Extra.
- When
- Any time. Balance does not expire.
- How
- Request refund in the console under Billing, or write to hello@getaight.ai from the account email address.
- Where it goes
- The original payment method, in the currency paid, at the original rate.
- API keys
- Not deleted. They keep working on any balance that remains.
01The rule
Aight is prepaid. The balance is recharged and the cost of each request is deducted. Unspent paid balance can be refunded at any time, for any reason. Usage already charged is not refunded. Extra is not refunded.
Terms, section 05, Exchange rate and charges:
Unspent paid money is refunded to the original payment method, in the currency paid, at the original rate. The 2% or the 3% on that money is refunded too. Extra is not refunded.
Paid balance is used before Extra. A refund never uses today's rate: each part of the refund is worked out from the recharge it came from.
02A worked example
Illustration only.
- Recharge
- US$100.00, account outside India
- Processing 3%
- US$3.00. Total paid: US$103.00
- Added to balance
- US$110.00: US$100.00 paid, US$10.00 Extra
- Usage
- US$25.00, taken from paid balance first
- Refund amount
- US$77.25: US$75.00 unspent paid balance and US$2.25 processing on it. Extra is not refunded.
03How to ask
- In the console, open Billing and choose Request refund. The refund breakdown by original payment is shown before the request is sent.
- Or write to hello@getaight.ai from the account email address, with "Refund request" in the subject line, and say whether the whole unspent paid balance or a specific amount is wanted.
- No reason is needed.
Support replies within 1 working day. The refund is paid within 7 working days of the request. Banks and card networks may take longer to show it.
04Where the money goes
- Refunds go back to the original payment method, in the currency of that payment.
- A refund cannot be paid to a different account.
- With several recharges, each refund is allocated to the original payments and paid back to each one, at that payment's own rate.
- If the original account or card is closed, write to support before asking. The refund can be paid once the bank's requirements are settled.
05Invoices and GST on refunds
For India accounts, a refund reverses part of a GST tax invoice. A credit note is issued for the refunded amount, including the GST on it. A credit note is a document that cancels part of an invoice. If input tax credit was claimed on the original invoice, that portion must be reversed.
06Closing the account
- There is no contract term. An account can be closed at any time by writing to support.
- On closure, unspent paid balance is refunded under this policy.
- API keys stop working the day the account is closed.
- Invoices remain available on request after closure, for as long as tax law requires them to be kept.
07When Aight closes or suspends an account
- If Aight stops the service, the full unspent paid balance is refunded.
- If an account is closed for breaking the terms, the unspent paid balance is still refunded.
- This does not apply if the breach was fraud, a payment dispute or a chargeback. A chargeback is a request to the bank to reverse a card payment instead of asking Aight.
- While a payment is disputed with a bank, the balance from that payment is frozen until the dispute is settled.
08Failed requests and wrong charges
- Requests that fail on Aight's side are not charged. A request charged by mistake is credited back.
- To query a charge, send the request ID to support. Every API reply carries a request ID. Usage details are in the console under Billing. Support replies within 1 working day.
- Wrong charges are credited back to the balance. A refund can be requested instead.
09If something goes wrong
If a refund is late or the amount is disputed, write to the grievance officer. This follows the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020. Every complaint is acknowledged within 48 hours and resolved within one month.
Other routes:
- For a payment. A payment dispute can also go to the bank or card issuer that made the payment, through its grievance process. Support sends the payment reference and the invoice on request.
- For any consumer complaint. National Consumer Helpline: 1915, or consumerhelpline.gov.in. It is run by the Government of India and is free.
